FOR A BETTER UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN PARENT AND CHILD
Nowadays there is often a lack of understanding between parent and child .Younger generation often feels that its style of living is quite different from that of older generation.The feeling that each family unit should have a separate residence is characteristic .No one wants to intrude or be intruded upon .Both parent and child feel that the other's presence would upset or even change their routine work respectively .
One of the reasons for present situation is that there are different likes and dislikes between parent and child.For example,the child likes glittering discos,rock-and-roll music,or love movies for his entertainment at night,while the parents like peaceful environment and physical exercise s .They would like to spend their evenings of life in happiness ( 安度晚年 ).
Second ly ,there often exist s misunderstanding between parents and child.The child doesn't know what his parents think and act ,while the parents don't understand what their child wants to do.In general ,young people enjoy a great deal of freedom,while their parents always keep their traditional style of life .
Third ly ,children often do not feel an equal share of responsibility toward their parents.For example,a brother sometimes feels that his sisters are responsible for physical care of their parents.One child may resent another's reluctance to help,provok ing misunderstanding and bitter ness .Not all of the children may be financially capable of contributing an equal share to the cost of their parents' care.
I argue that it is unfair to say that they are self-centered .Parent and child should often communicate with each other.By discovering things about both sides,they can inter act much better and help each other to deal with their problems for a better understanding between parent and child.

A Better Understanding Between Parents and Children
There is often a lack of understanding between parents and children.Children often complain that their parents cannot understand them,while parents feel sorry that their children seldom listen to them.Why?
First of all,owing to their different ages,experience s and ways of thinking ,they have different likes and dislikes .Children are energetic and curious.They are eager to learn.Meanwhile ,they are active.They enjoy a lot from taking part in all kinds of activities.On the contrary ,parents are practical and realistic .They prefer a peaceful and smooth environment,especially when they are at home.After housework,they like watching TV,reading newspapers or having conversations with their family members.
Mis understanding is another reason.Children regard their parents' concern for them as a burden.They ask for independence.However,in the parents' eyes,their children are still young and need to be taken under their wings .When children turn a deaf ear to their well-intentioned advice,they feel angry and sad.
To solve this,for parents,they should treat their children as friends rather than small (little) babies and try to understand the feelings and thoughts of the young.For children,they should respect their parents and be aware that what their parents do is just for their good.The problem will be solved if parents and children both make their effort s .
