You have been my mother for twenty-four and a half years, and for twenty-four and a half years you have mothered me very well, as much as any child can ask for.

More importantly, you have been a great role model, showing me how to treat others with respect and, since you came to America from Poland at the age of 26, how to find a good job and life in a foreign country.
I still remember that day when you showed how much a mother cares for her child.
When I was 11, I got sick and had to stay home instead of playing with my friends. I cried and cried for half an hour, wanting so badly to go play with them. For half an hour you sat with me and told me that I could play with them another day, until I stopped crying and started smiling ...
