一个英语问题 keep up 和 keep on当“继续”讲有什么区别?

做“继续”讲时,意思方面没有区别,如The rain kept on/up all night.雨整夜下个不停.
但是用法有些不同：
keep on doing sth ,继续做某事 on 可以省略,但是必须接的是动词的ing形式,
比如keep on calling
keep up 一般与with搭配使用,比如keep up with the payments 继续付款
