be+of+名词的几种用法
▲be+of+抽象名词,相当于be+该抽象名词的形容词形成,主要用来表示主语的性质.如：
(1)Sports and games are of great importance.(=are very important)
体育运动非常重要.
(2)What he said at the meeting was of great value.(=was very valuable)
他在会上讲的话很有价值.
(3)This medicine is of little use.(=This medicine is useless)
这种药没什么效果.
(4)The book is of little value.(=The book is valueless.)
这本书没什么价值.
(5)The tool isn’t of any use.(=The tool is useless.)
这工具没用.
【注】这一结构中的抽象名词前可用great,little,no,some,any,not much等修饰,以表示不同的程度,抽象名词常用importance,value,use等.
▲be+of+名词还可表示主语的类属.如：
(6)Australia and New Zealand are of the same continent.
澳大利亚和新西兰属同一洲.
(7)The two sisters are of the same class.
姐妹俩在同一班.
(8)Two of his greatest films,“City Lights”and “Modern Times”,were of this kind.
