According to the results obtained in this work,it can be
concluded that,in general,the best design of a mechanical
spindle speeder is based on the constructional solution of
Fig.2a,which is that most often used by mechanical
spindle speeder manufacturers.Among all of the possible
spindle speeder designs based on the constructional
solution of Fig.2a for each speed ratio,power and
maximum output speed,the results given in Tables 1 and
2 offer the most appropriate solutions,i.e.the minimum
volume and minimum kinetic energy solutions.In the
authors’ opinion,these results could be of great interest for
manufacturers and engineers involved with the marketing
and design of mechanical spindle speeders.
Moreover,it is important to note that the constructional
solution of Fig.2c can be used for high speed ratios (speed
ratios greater than 1:10).
