1.当主语从句中含有 do 时,be 后面的标语为：（to）do sth.

2.A 本来也是可以的,但主语是 a couple = the man & the woman,所以就重复了.
to be married,不定时表示将来,订婚是为了今后的结婚.
3.was to have given = planned to give it to him,本打算昨天还得,但没空（所以没有及时归还）.
表示过去原本打算要做的事,但实际没有做成.
were to give,指将来的虚拟.但这里指的是昨天未做成的事.
再问： 请问to do 和 to be done 有什么区别？ 一般情况下
再答： (sb) to do sth, (sth) to be done: 主动和被动的区别。 但 get/ be married (to sb) 与被动没有关系，这是个 系表结构的，如同，be beautiful 一样，married, adj. 而不是过去分词，不表示被动。 这句改一下，A 也可以： ... when a man becomes engaged to marry (a woman), it is customary for.... 这样的句子一点问题都没有。
