1 Materials and methods
During the summer of 2005,many surveys and field prospecting were carried out to sample specimen in the inter-tidal zone of Zhoushan Archipelago,including 12 islands,i.e.Liuheng,Taohua,Zhujiajian,Zhoushan,Xiushan,Diashan,Dayushan,Xiaochangtu,Dachangtu,Qushan,Miaozhihu,and Sijiaoshan.In the investigation,30 cross-sections to sample are listed in Plate 1.Among these transects,The substrate types of No.4 and 8 transects are muddy-sandy beaches,No13,20-23,26,28 and 30 transects are rocky ones,and the others are muddy ones.The tide zones are determined by the biological principle of Stephenson,total 7 quads was set up,among which 2 quads in the high tide zone,3 in the medium tide zone and 2 in the low tide zone.
The investigation and analysis were carried out according to the Brief Specifications for the Investigation to the Resource of the National Epilittoral Zone and Beach I",and the Specifications for Marine Monitoring 1".In addition,the dominace of gastropoda is calculated by the equation(IRI=(n;/N+w/W)xfjt x 105),ni means the individual numbers of one gastropod,wi means the biomass,N and W means the total individual numbers and total biomass,fi means the frequency,and t means sampling times.
