this sentence is missing something. When you put 'because' as a conjunction, then you should give a reason. This sentence only said 'because I felt'. Felt what to make you act important all the time?
Anyway, I wasn't = I was not important. Or I was not what I felt before.(whatever the reason missing in this statement)

再答： I am not sure why you want to imitate or be Don Miguel. The only sort of well known Don Miguel is called Don Miguel Ruiz who was on the Oprah show. He wrote some books which I have yet to read. Anyway .... act important - acting like you are somebody. You put on air and maintain a certain behaviour and posturing. You do that because you don't think you are important, so you have to act out of being important. (I used to act important all the time because I felt I wasn't (important)). It also hints that you don't have to act important anymore because you know you are important. You can be yourself and not worry if you are important or not. OR, YOu can be yourself and you know who you are and your value.
