This article obviously is part of an anti-smoking campaign.However,the author deviates from the normal practice of emphasizing on lung cancer and other popularly known bad effects of smoking; instead he tries to discourage people from smoking by citing various lesser-known side-effects.
It is interesting to discover that wrinkle lines around the mouth and eyes are not formed only by old age but also from sucking on cigarettes and squinting through the smoke.
It is not that surprising that he mentions smoking increases risk of illness,because as a smoker myself,I am easily prone to colds,flu,bronchitis and occasionally pneumonia.But I am really surprised to learn that smoking can cause age-related blindness,especially when some experts have argued that the evidence of the link is as strong as the link between smoking and cancer!Another surprise is when the author says that smoking can act just like fatty foods which can increase cholesterol and fatty deposits inside our arteries,and a long term build-up can cause impotence.I think all smokers should sit up,take heed and start deciding to quit smoking.
