句子感觉怪怪的,求分析there are more words than there are gaps.后面不是从句吗?

因为more...than 前后要接同类对象,前面是words,后面也应该是words,如果去掉there are,那就是词跟空格比了,明显不行,加上there are,就是这样理解,所给的词比（空格上填的）词多,从前面可以知道there are more words这里是说盒子里所给的词多,后面是要填的词,两个”地方“不一样,这后面不是什么从句,只是一个there be句型,there be句型本来就是说某地存在某物,跟前面是一致的,但是所属地不一样,所以要带上there are.
There are more words or phrases in the box than there are gaps to fill.
盒子里的词比要填的词多.
There are more words than there are gaps in the text.
所给的词比文章中空缺处（要填的）词多.
There are more apples than pears.
苹果比梨子多.
可以结合这几句来理解.加上to fill估计好理解点.
