Nowadays,the Sensor Webs represent a very effective solution to global earth observation [1]–[5].The term “SensorWeb”refers to a network of heterogeneous and spatially distributed sensors whose data can be real-time accessed through the Internet [1].More generally,Sensor Webs appear as a coordinated observation infrastructure composed by a distributed collection of resources that can collectively behave as a single,autonomous,dynamically adaptive,and reconfigurable observing system providing raw and processed data by means of a set of standard interfaces [2],[3].As regards to the key features,SensorWebs are able to perform a targeted observation through dynamic tasking requests,to incorporate forecasts adjustable through autonomous operations and dynamic reconfiguration,to provide a timely response to parameter variations,and to allow an easy access to data and information [1],[3].In addition,such systems effectively manage the available resources according to the requests of the end user,they are relatively low-cost because of the combination of complementary technologies,and they provide improved data accuracy through the calibration and the comparison of different typologies of sensor.From a technological perspective,a SensorWeb coordinates the observation from many sensor platforms,such as spacecrafts,airborne instrumentation,or ground-based
