双重所有格什么时候需要使用,什么时候不需要?

an old bike of Tommy's：of后的所有格是名词性的.相当于所有格+名词
如：an old bike of Tommy's=an old bike of Tommy's old bikes
a friend of mine=a friend of my friends
the paintings of Monet：这个意思是Monet的画（这些画：画有Monet）
如果要说Monet的画,一般说成：
Monet's paintings
又如：
a picture of my family 画有我家人的画
a picture of flowers一幅画有花的画
