People, especially kids, will dress up in all kinds of costumes. Most people will decorate their houses with cheese cloth, fake spiders, skeleton, black cats, horror movie characters and jack-o-lantern that they carved a couple days ago. At night, young adults will go to costume parties and have fun, while younger kids gather together to "trick or treat" in the neighborhood. Normally there will be an adult to go with the kids in order to make sure the kids are safe. Boys and girls will carry their candy basket and knock on the doors of the houses that have their porch lights on (which means this house is ready for trick-or-treat! you don't wanna knock on a door and there's no one at home, or no candy). Kids were supposed to play tricks on the mean, greedy people who would not give them any candy. But nowadays, you don't really see that happen that often any more. The most popular trick is to throw rolls of toilet paper around their house and lawn.
Other than the traditions, it's also very popular to watch horror movie together while consuming food and beverage of halloween theme, as well as going to hunting houses!
