Do You Agree that Rock Is the Music of Teenage Rebellion?
Some people think that Rock is the music of teenage rebellion because many rock stars sang of dissatisfaction to the society.Often they openly criticize what is known as the “adult world”,with all its dull routines and clichés.They expressed teenager’s own opinion of politics,social life,etc.Such expression brought on clashes of ideas between different generations.
Yet others disagree with the opinion,believing that Rock music is no more than a pure musical force.They believe in “art for art’s sake”,and think that we should take Rock more as a style of music than a forum of debate.
In my point of view,the Rock music has become an important channel of expression for the younger generations of the western world,as well as an outlet for the growing tension modern people are burdened with.It is a place where teenagers define and redefine their feelings and believes,and in the process form their own values.These values sometimes influence their entire generation,and through that the society as a whole.Thus,I do believe that the Rock music is a way for young people to express—even sometimes “rebel” against their elders,but this “rebellion” can be beneficial if guided in the right way.
