It is generally agreed that certain styles are more likely to lead to success in learning,and there are plenty of strategies to remedy some typical cognitive style problems.Research findings and the collective experience of teachers indicate that low tolerance of ambiguity and excessive impulsiveness or caution may hinder learning.Teachers can use brainstorming,role?play,and jigsaw reading to promote ambiguity tolerance.For excessive risk?taking usually doing summary and making generalization can be very productive.Those learners who approach learning tasks with too much caution should be encouraged to work in a group,and be praised for trying out newly learned language,and get more chances to demonstrate their strengths.
