Abstract
Chiang Ching-kuo is the most popular president ever in Taiwan history,according to the results of surveys on Taiwan citizens in the past ten years.In his period of power,there were white terror,martial law enforcement,and democracy being trampled,but meanwhile,there were great economic leaps and democratic reforms.His contribution towards the improvement of cross-strait relations as well as the effort made in island's socioeconomic development were not forgotten though political situations have been through great changes.
