It came across my mind when I was shopping in Holt Renfrew the other day. There's a difference between when you only heard about how expensive a set of regular Gucci suit can be, and actually seeing it with the price tag right in your face. The situation didn't get better when I had to go grocery shopping with my parents in a Chinese supermarket right after, where people was looking for cheap deals and suffer from life survival decisions.
The huge contract of 2 different places, which reflect 2 extreme ends of life styles, got me into deep thinking. It seems to me that being rich and famous is much more a better life style I rather have.
However, does rich and famous mean it's perfect? I'm not sure. It is good to live in a life, where you can get whatever you want, whenever you want. But when we talking about the upscale lifestyle, we also talking about living in an upscale environment where you have to deal with thousands of "mind games" and be very cautious about thing you do and say. Besides there is no privacy when you are rich and famous, we sometimes heard the daughter of a millionaire who suffers from depression, or have some kind of addiction. There's actually a TV show called "Daddy's spoiled little girl", which based all its stories on the lives of those spoiled rich girls. I was very jealous of their lifestyle, but I also felt sad for them for being spoiled and lack of common survival knowledge. Do I wish to grown up in that kind of environment? Of course I do. But do I want to after considering it thoroughly? No I do not.
Money is a very funny thing. By that I meant you can't live with it, but you can't live without it either. Yes! There are many other great things in life we all cherish, but many times without money we suffer to just to meet the basic needs and have no time for anything else. Many married couples separated because of financial shortage issues. It is a contradicted thing when talking about how much money is enough, and it is unbelievable how far people will go to get money.
So here's the question again. Would you like to be rich, or poor?
