On September 14,2007,a charity basketball game was held in Shougang Sports Center,Beijng.Some famous NBA stars —Yaoming,Steve Nash and Carmelo —and seven other NBA players took part in the game.
Yao led1 the Chinese national team against a team of NBA players in this charity game.Yao and Nash decided to hold a game to raise2 money for children’s education in some of the poorest places in China.Nash had the idea first,"More than six months ago,Nash told me about his idea.I thought it was great.Then we began to work on it," said Yao.He also said that all the money they got from the game would go to poor children in western China.Nash said on the telephone that he felt very happy to play in this game with Yao and do something for poor children.
In the game,Team Yao beat Team Nash.The result was 101-92.About 5,000 people watched the game in the sports center and more than 200 million people watched it on TV.The game raised over 2 million dollars for kids in China.
