The human race is using up water faster than we can replace it. We take water for granted. We often waste water. We dump toxic substances into our rivers and lakes.
Sadly, we do not have an endless supply of water. Ninety-seven percent of all the water on the earth is salt water which is not suitable for drinking. Only three percent of all the water is fresh water, and only one percent is available for drinking water. The other two percent is locked in ice caps and glaciers.
We must learn to save water now for the future. Keeping our water clean is very important. Water is important not only to our own survival but also to the fish and animals that live on it. We must conserve water because our Earth's very existence depends on it. Every drop of polluted water means there is one drop less available for living.
