Senior Mechanical Project Engineer
ABOUT THE JOB:
Responsible for leading development projects and for all aspects of new product development involving conceptualization,concurrent engineering,production implementation and post-launch support in a cross-functional team environment.Also responsible for product improvement projects.Expected to provide technical leadership,project management and some supervision of other engineers.Candidate will interact with engineering,marketing,and management to assure that product development priorities are completed to schedule and budget,while ensuring quality and product performance.
MORE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Drive projects to completion meeting project deliverables and timelines
• Develop projects and resolve issues through the use of technical tools; CAE,prototyping,testing and technical knowledge
• Lead and contribute to effective cross-functional teams
Product development activities include design and development,rigorous design reviews,incorporation of lessons learned from existing products,product verification and field validation along with coordinating with quality assurance and developing appropriate documentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering,MS or other advanced degree a plus
• 8+ years of product design and project engineering experience,with increasing levels of responsibility
• Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts
• Proven design experience of high quality,low cost,high volume products
• Proven success in product development as a member or leader of a cross-functional team
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with minimal supervision
• Experience in project management and scheduling
• Proficiency in 3D solid modeling CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
• Experience with finite element analysis software
• Experience in injection molded plastic component design
• Detailed knowledge of injection molding tool designs and concepts
• Experience working with tool makers both domestically and abroad
• In-depth knowledge of plastic material uses and applications
• Acceptance of light to moderate travel
• Willingness to travel to other facilities in So.Cal,Arizona & Tijuana,and in the field as needed
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• • Knowledge of FMEA,DFMEA,QFD and other quality improvement techniques
• Knowledge of Mold Flow analysis software
• Experience leading a cross-functional development team
• Experience with product testing techniques such as environmental stress or HALT
• Experience with the irrigation industry would be an asset
