IPv6 is a new IP protocol that was introduced by IETF in 1992 with the intention of replacing current IPv4 with it.The main goal was to solve various existing problems in IPv4.In addition,QoS guarantee,Mobile IPv6,and enforced IP Security have been proposed.
Starting with the issue of almost used-up IPv4 addresses,this thesis describes the main changes of the IPv6 protocol,analyzes the necessity and urgency of moving from IPv4 to IPv6,studies the pros and cons of major transition techniques from different perspectives,and discusses the transition schemes comprehensively.
Regarding the advanced application of IPv6 -- Mobile IPv6,the thesis describes in detail its advantages in future applications,and investigates its components,theory,and security etc..For the deployment of Mobile IPv6,ideas and practical use cases are also introduced.
