高中常见的情态动词有:can,could,may,might,shall,should,must,will
1.can:通常表示能够如何如何,如I can ride a bike.
can't be表示不可能,如He can't be there.
有一个特殊用法:cannot```too再```也不为过,如:A man cannot have too many ties.一个男人有再多的领带也不为过.(出自新概念)
2.could:通常作为can的过去时,也可以表示委婉语气,如:Could I have another cup of coffee?
3.may:表示语气较弱的推测,或表示询问,如:May I come in?
4.might:一般作为may的过去时,也表示语气更弱的推测.
其中:may...as well/might...as well表示还是如何如何好
5.shall:一般表示询问,如:Shall we go to the park tomorrow?
用于第二,第三人称时表示命令,允许,警告,如:You shall be punished if you break the law.
6.should:一般作为shall的过去时,但是should have done/shouldn't have done分别表示本应做而没做/本不应做而做了
should还有由于虚拟语气中,或表示建议或命令的句子中,如:He suggested that we (should) go there by bus.should可以省略.虚拟语气中是不能省略的.
还有部分情况中should表示竟然的意思,如:A gentleman should behave like that!
7.must:表示必须如何如何,还可以表示语气强烈的肯定推测.
部分情况中还可以表示偏要怎么样,如:The little girl must go outside though it is raining heavily.
8.will表示将要,但高中语法中多了"愿意"的意思,如:I will try doing it.
总之,can't,must的语气一样,只是一个表示否定,一个表示肯定.在肯定的语气中,语气由强到弱分别为:must>may>might,还有几种特殊的意思需要记住.
