分析定语从句介词＋which

Cultural influences such as television portray mostly a world 这是主句,in which一直到最后是一个定语从句,修饰先行词a world 这里的in which相当于where,在定语从句中,that sustains civilization又是一个定语从句,修饰先行词respect.
介词+ which 在定语从句中有的时候可以代替where,when 来使用,有的时候,那个介词,其实是定语从句不及物动词后的介词+宾语,自然宾语是先行词,用which代替先行词
例如 i remember the day on which/ when we met first.
i didnot know the place in which / where he lived.这两个是可以用when和where替换的,因为他们在定语从句中是充当时间和地点状语.
但是下面就不可以了
i didn't know the man with whom he talked.其实这里是talk with sb的动词短语组,不是时间或者地点状语,不能用where 或者when 替换
