The sealed upper end 5 of the ultra-violet ray tube has connection electrically,through means not shown,with a transformer 16.A conductor 17 is connected with' the transformers of 'the group of tubes for supplying the same with current from a supply line.Any suitable means for controlling the supply of current 'to the transformers may be employd.Mechanism of any suitable type,generally indicated at 18,may be provided for raising and lowering the carriage to dispose the stems of the tubes with in the bottles B for a sterilizing action,and there after raising the stems out of the bottles to permit the bottles to be moved forward to the filling station C.By means of the bottle sterilizing mechanism above described the interior of the bottles B may be rendered sterile and ready to be filled with the sterilized liquid..
