There is a problem in the way the unit handles high input signal levels on any source.
When tested with a CD with a sine wave recorded at a level higher than -10dB,the unit
has excessive THD.To get the THD below 1.0%,I must use a test disc recorded at -10dB.
The same high THD problem is also found on the AUX and USB inputs.It is virtually
impossible to measure output with THD lower than 1.0%,regardless of the input level
(50 to 200mV) or volume control setting.There is audible distortion when using the Aux
inputs at any level.
The CD and USB sources will measure acceptable THD levels,but only if the track levels
are at -10dB or lower.See graphs below.
On Sample Two,the distortion in the amplified output increases at lower frequencies.
This can be caused by incorrect capacitor values,or other circuitry problems.See the
Amplified Outputs – THD vs Freq graph below.
To measure the power available below 1.0% THD,I had to use a special 1kHz track
recorded at -10dB.This was the only way to avoid excessive THD.
