2004年8月,大熊猫二丫头出现罕见的“难产”,虽然经过工作人员的尽力抢救,幼仔还是不幸胎死腹中.做为当时现场的一名兽医,罗娌非常难过.奇珍奇缘能否顺利生产,成为大熊猫基地工作人员心中放不下的石头.吸取了以往的经验,罗娌和同事加紧了对奇珍奇缘的观察,通过对她们的尿液和雌激素的化验分析,罗娌和同事们推断出,姐妹俩个的预产期大约在8月2号到10号之间.2004年8月2日终于来到了,罗娌一大早就直奔奇珍奇缘的产房,然而,经过一天的等待,奇珍和奇缘并没有生产的反应.
