英语短文读后感
EAST NEW YORK marching band members got stranded early yesterday when the bus they chartered for a trip to West Virginia left them in the lurch.
The Soul Tigers marching band gathered at 1 a.m.at Brooklyn’s Intermediate School 292 and waited through the night for a US Coachways bus that never showed.
“I’m very upset because we were very excited to go,” said Arianna Metellus,15,a 10thgrader at the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice, who joined the band when she was in the sixth grade.
“We had to wait all night and all morning, and the bus didn’t show up.”
The students had been raising money since last summer to travel to the Strawberry Festival in Buckhannon,West Va.,they said.
“In the summertime we had a lot of cookouts,” said South Shore high school sophomore Andrew Duhaney,16,who plays the drums.
US Coachways president of sales Edward Telmany acknowledged the bus broke down 10 minutes away from the school. But he said he’d been in touch with the band while his company tried to locate another bus, even from another company.
“This weekend is the busiest day of the year,” Telmany said.“We did our best to find alternate transportation. We by contract are not even responsible to do that, but we did that to try and help them.”
Band director Kenyatte Hughes said he was disappointed the bus company couldn’t come through for his kids.
“It’s just a letdown, especially when we try to teach them that you will prosper if you work hard,” he said.

Even though the it was an accident that the bus broke down,Coachway should have been more responsible. They should have alerted the band of the problem immediately, instead of making all the members wait through the night.Their attempt to resolve the situation was a letdown. Not only did the bus company betray the trust bestowed onto them, they were also poor role models for the students.
