"the thief being caught"合起来做宾语.被动句型being caught作为补语,整句意思是新证据的发现导致了那个贼的被捕.being caught作为thief的补语.
(2) 第一个选项 A: "the thief having been caught"的"have been" 不适合. 所以排斥!
(3) 问的题问的不对? "The discovery of new evidence led to..." 问题正确!
再问： have been" 为什么不适合
再答： (1) "being" caught" =被捕 (2) " have been" = 不适合以上的句子 ("...led to the thief..."; 只适合复数的句子: (a) The thieves have been caught; (b) Ten students have been sacked by the school; (c) Where have you been lately?
