There is no denying that our modern society is moving on four wheels. Owning a private car is a great thing. It makes going out more convenient and comfortable. But if my family has the plan to purchase a private car, to be frank, I will say “No”.
To begin with, possessing a private car is really a financial burden for the average families. As to my family, my parents are both teachers, purchasing a private car maybe beyond our financial ability. Not only the car itself is too expensive to afford, but also the cost of maintenance is too high. Although the convenience and mobility of a private car badly attract me, I will repress this desire when I think about the heavy loan that the wonderful thing may bring us.
What’s more, a private car is not good for my family members’ health and safety. The terrible noise and harmful gas that we must be exposed to every day undoubtedly do harm to our hearing and respiratory organs. And driving an automobile is a very demanding job. I will express my sincere sympathy for my dear father ― the only driver in my family if we really purchase a car.
The last but not the least, I would like to show my opinion from a higher perspective. Just imagine that if every family has a private car, what problems may this give rise to? The traffic accidents, energy crisis, noise and air pollution, congested parking and crowded streets will all become more serious social problems that give threat to people’s peaceful lives. In addition, the popularization of private cars may lead people to a luxurious and lazy life.
In conclusion, though there are many favorable aspects to attract people to possess private cars, as far as my family is concerned, I don’t think it is very necessary and useful.

It is an indication of the lifted living standard of Chinese people. But in my opinion,private ownership of cars should not be encouraged in China.
There are sound reasons for the limitation of private cars in China. First,it is self evident that the automobile contributes much to air pollution. In China,especially in large cities whose residents are more likely to buy private cars,the pollution of the air is already very serious. More private cars will inevitably aggravate the present situation. Second,private cars can be a formidable threat to the traffic. To tell the truth,today many people can afford a car,if a large number of private cars rush onto the streets,the already dense traffic will suffer more. Last but not the least,the automobile consumes energy. We always proudly claim our country is rich in natural resources. But in the mean time,we need to remember we also have a large population. We do have rich resources of energy,but speaking of energy,we can not smile with ease.
Therefore,I sincerely believe that private cars should be discouraged in China. Then,by what means shall we limit private cars?Since people buy private cars mainly for convenience,my first suggestion is to develop adequate public transportation which is effective and punctual. At the same time,we should raise the price of gasoline to a prohibitive level so as to make car－driving expensive enough. All in all,private cars,from my point of view,should be limited in China.

Statistics show that there's a sharp rising in the number of Chinese private car owners. It's a reasonable phenomenon with the rapid development of China's economy. Now with more and more people owning cars, many start to spar over the topic of the good and bad influence brought by private cars. Here I would like to talk about both its advantages and disadvantages.
Private cars do bring us a lot of conveniences. There is no need to wait for a bus or other public transportation for people with a car, and he can drive wherever he wants if condition permits. Furthermore, the expanding of car industry provides plenty of job openings, which also benefits other relative industries. Besides, compared with the one who goes to work by public transportation means, one who goes to work by his own car most probably has a better mood when he gets there, which would make his job more effective and efficient.
However, there is more than one disadvantage of an increasing number of people owning private cars. First, a very serious pollution problem will surely emerge, including air and sound pollution. The carbon dioxide and other poisonous gas given off by cars will heavily pollute the city atmosphere and cause harm to people's health. Second the increasing of private cars will give rise to traffic jams, especially during rush hour. For example, here in Shanghai the traffic facilities are still not sufficient for such a huge population. Therefore more private cars will cause a heavy burden on traffic. Last but not least, people with private cars now would rather go to places driving cars instead of walking, which does no good to health. Investigation shows that walkers have less incidence of cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and other killer diseases. They live longer and get mental health and spiritual benefits.
All in all, although nowadays autos have been playing a vital part in our society, they also bring us numerous troubles. More should be done to maximize the advantages and minimize the disadvantages and make the full use of private cars.
