SINCE the rapid improvement of the computer network
technology and the information technology,the
information security and the public security have
become more and more important.Accurate identification or
certification is an important prerequisite to ensure the
information security and public security.As an important
personal identification method,the fingerprint recognition
has been used in many fields such as E-government,Public
security police,Immigration Customs,Medical,The
academic,research,Banking Securities,E-commerce and so
on,and performs perfectly.
The edge detection of the fingerprint images is a very
important part of fingerprint recognition technology.Its
basic idea is using an edge enhancement algorithm to
enhance the local edge,and then defining the edge intensity
of the Pixels,and extracting the edge point sets by setting the
threshold.Because the edge and contour of an image usually
have arbitrary directions,it is needed to find some operators
which have the same edge and contour detecting ability for
arbitrary directions.The common edge detection operators
include Robert Operator,Sobel Operator,Prewitt Operator,
LOG Operator,Canny Operator,Zero-cross Operator,
Binary Image Edge Detection and so on.
