Competition is the essence for a market economy.However,because of Chinese economy's two-track system,a number of industries and enterprises do not really participate competitively in the market.They can control the price and hold the market with the advantages of being a monopoly and have the protection of the administration,thus abundant profits can be achieved by those few that are protected.The companies hold monopolies in many fields including telecommunication、electricity,finance,insurance,railways,the petroleum industry and other industries.These monopolies establish various terms for holding their territory and prevent competition from others,thus the workers in these industries receive higher incomes.The unreasonable administrative-given monopolies restricts the participation of other companies.As a result,the employment ratio of the whole society tilt heavy towards those in the government protected companies.The income gap between the rich and the poor will be widened as the monopolies' incomes increases.
