I have worked in the firm for 40 years, and I have the right to come up
with a plan absolutely.
I have beening working in the firm for 40 years, and I want to get more salary.

--- Hi, Tracy, you look tired.
---I am tired. I _______ the living room all day.
A. painted B. had painted
C. have been painting D. have painted
(1) I covered all the issues listed by Professor Wang last week.
(2) I have already covered all the issues listed by Professor Wang.
(3) I have interviewed eight interviewees, much quicker than scheduled.
(4) --- Have you consulted the directors about the present situation of electricity shortage?
---Yes, (I have.) Director Zhang and I talked over this last Saturday.
(5) The famous scriptwriter has written strongly for citizen life improvements.
(6) The famous scriptwriter wrote strongly for citizen life improvements.
(7) I’ve been busy lately.
(8) Ryan has rung three times this morning. (acceptable when the time this speaker speaks is before noon)
(9) Ryan rang three times this morning. (acceptable when it is in the afternoon or evening.)

(10) I’ve been waiting for an hour and the secretary says that I have to wait one more hour.
(11) I have been thinking it over.
I waited, I am waiting and I will have to wait.
I thought about it and I am still thinking. 或 I thought about it and now I have come to a conclusion.
(12) Justin has been calling Marie every night for the last week.
(13) Justin has called Marie seven times for the past week.
(14) I’ve been wanting a newly-edited copy of this dictionary.
我一直以来就想要一本这个辞典的新版本.(此句与I’ve wanted a newly-edited copy of this dictionary 无甚区别)
(16) I have been working in the department store.
(17) I am just helping out recently in the department store, but I don’t really work here.

而现在完成进行时往往与all the (this) morning/ afternoon/ day/ month,或the whole day, etc连用.
(18) I have been working on the experiment report this morning, but I haven’t completed it yet.
(19) They have been repairing the broken road.
(20) They have already repaired the broken road.

(21) I’ve been writing letters since breakfast.
(22) I’ve written to him three times, but I haven’t heard from him up till now.
就如同说I am writing 的动作是不能连用twice 或three times 一样.
(23) He has called on his cousin many times, but each time he happened to be out.
(24) (When the teacher questioned some student)
---Why haven’t you turned in your report yet?
---I have been reading the results of the experiment all morning. You have told us to
study the statistics before working on the report.
此句中的have been reading 如改为have read 则荒谬之极. I have been reading it的动作距离I am reading it还较远,与I was reading it, I would be reading it if I were not talking to you and I will be reading it.
(25) ---How about going out for a walk?
---I don’t feel like going out this evening. I’ve been working in the garden all day.
(26) ---Look out for the door.
---Why?
---John has been painting the door.
(In this situation, mostly the paint is still wet. John has painted the door.
(27) Please excuse my dirty clothes. I’ve been cleaning out the garden shed.
(28) I have cleaned the garden shed. And now it is fit to store things in.
(29) ---What have you done with my knife? 意为Where is it now?)
---I put it back where it was.
(30) ---What have you been doing to it? 意为The blade’s all twisted. Have you been sawing wood with it?)
