其实你应该给出语境的.如果单纯这句话来说,“给学生授堂课”和“给学生一个教训”都是对的,我个人觉得!
比如：
Because this subject is very complicated,she decides to give students a lesson to make it more specific to understand.
Oh,God.what naughty boys they are.i will give them a lesson to make sure they know they are wrong!
