1.人准备做某事用prepare yourself for sth.这个结构,prepare后面接的是人.将它变成被动语态就变成了：sb.be prepared for sth.
2.following the Spring Festival是定语,修饰days.days与follow之间是主谓关系,故用现在分词形式.
3.一般人都有这种想法：经过了五年的战争后,当地人的生活水平肯定很差,badly off就是穷困潦倒的意思.但是这里有个in fact,它起到了转折连词的作用.
4.这里是as if/though he was making a signal for us to stop的省略.as if/though引导的从句,如果主语与主句的主语相同,且从句中含有be动词,则可以省略主语和be动词.
如果选A,那它就是as if he was going to make a signal to us的省略,这样一来,make就是将来发生的动作了.但从句意可知swung和make是同时发生的动作.故排除A.
