在英语语法中am is are是Be动词；can,must,may,need,will等是情态动词,其中will和need也可作实意义动词；how是连词,也可作副词.
Be动词的一般含义为：是,在,成为,变化形式有was,were,been,being,而且每个形式针对一种人称,I am/was he/she is/was they are/were you are/were
例如：
He is a teacher.他是一位教师.
The girl is crying.女孩在哭.
I want to be a scientist.我想成为科学家.
情态动词是动词的一种,但是不能独立充当谓语,必须与动词原形连在一起使用,其含义can能,may也许,need需要,will将,must必须(其中need也可作名词表示需要、需要的东西)
例如：
He can swim.他会游泳（can和swim共同构成谓语）
I will go to park tomorrow morning.明天早晨我去公园.
We must work hard.我们必须努力工作.
I need to ring her riht away.我需要马上给她打电话.
情态动词也有助动词的用法,可以构成一般疑问句,例如：
Can you swim?你会游泳吗?
Will you go to park tomorrow?你明天去公园吗?
May I have your name?我能知道你的名字吗?
Shall we begin now?我们现在就开始吗?

用法如下：
1.how much 多少?多少（不可数的数量）（价钱）
询问价钱：How much is it?这个多少钱?
询问数量（不可数）How much water is there in the glass?玻璃杯里有多少水?
询问重量：How much does the pig weigh?这头猪多重?
询问数字计算的结果：How much is four plus one?四加一等于多少?
