I have been to all the usual beach holiday resorts and I think my favourite place of all has to be Turkey, the Turks are so funny and friendly. The Turkish baths are to die for (just remember to wear a swimsuit I forgot my bikini top and it was slightly embarrassing). Alcudia in Northern Majorca is gorgeous I always feel like I am getting my batteries recharged there when I stand in the water and look at either side of the bay and try to forgot about everybody else on the beach. Cuba is a fascinating country and the people are really special - warm, kind and generous. We travelled around on a special tourist bus service called Viazul which crossed the entire country and was very comfortable and good value, For most of the time we stayed in local homestays - casas particulares - which was a brilliant way to find out more about the Cuban way of life and also to practise our Spanish.Cuba is unlike anywhere else I've ever visited, mainly because it seems preserved in time, with some amazing 1950's architecture. It's certainly a place to get off the beaten track and away from the tourist beaches and hotels. We felt very safe there and had a wonderful trip.
