1.Bomb threat diverts Urumqi-bound jet
Bomb threat diverts Urumqi-bound jetA PLANE flying from Afghanistan to Urumqi, capital of China’s Xinjiang, reported a bomb threat and was refused permission to land Sunday night,State media said yesterday.
Xinhua said security and emergency teams had gone to the airport in Urumqi to set up checkpoints on approach roads, according to police.
It said sources had earlier said the plane had been hijacked.
Quoting diplomatic sources in the Afghan capital Kabul,Xinhua said that the aircraft had returned to Kabul after making a stop in the southern city of Kandahar.
But in Afghanistan, the civilian director of the Kandahar airport Nasir Khan said there had been no bomb threat or hijacking and the plane had been refused permission to land in Urumqi for an unclear technical reason.
“There was no bomb threat or hijacking,” he said.
The plane, carrying more than 200 passengers including five Chinese, was on a maiden Kam Air flight from Kabul to Urumqi, officials said.
Zamarai Kamgar, president of Kam Airlines, said at a press conference in Kabul yesterday that no bomb was found on the plane.
He suspected the bomb claim was made up by some of the airline’s competitors.
Kam Air was founded in 2003 as Afghanistan’s first private commercial airline.

2.Obsessed fan charged with stalking Miley Cyrus
POLICE have charged a 53-year-old man with trying to stalk teenage star Miley Cyrus after he was arrested a month ago for attempting to reach the actress on a movie set, police in Georgia, the United States, said Wednesday.
Mark McLeod, who has told police he is secretly engaged to 16-year-old Cyrus, was charged with attempting to stalk the star on the set of her latest Disney film,“The Last Song,” on Tybee Island, near Savannah,Georgia.
Cyrus has shot to fame in the past few years for playing Hannah Montana in the hit Disney series about a schoolgirl with a secret life as a pop star.
Tybee Island Police Chief Jim Price told local reporters that McLeod,of Appling,
Georgia, was arrested after Walt Disney Pictures security officers reported he was on a beachside movie set despite a police warning in June to stay away.
In June,McLeod was arrested by Tybee Island Police on charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction when he tried to breach a security perimeter around the movie set,the New York Daily News reported.
But he was released after a day in custody because of jail overcrowding,a move that was criticized by local media and lawmakers.
In March, the New York Daily News shot video of McLeod waiting at a book-signing appearance by Cyrus in Manhattan in New York City when he said he was her No.1 fan.
