Freedom not only means that a person has the chance to choose and to bear the responsibility that comes with the choice,but it also means that he has to undertake the outcome of his action,accept the praise or upbraiding.Freedom and responsibility are indeed inseparable.If members of a free society do not agree that “Every individual’s condition is the result of his action” is justified and accept the consequence as it is,then this free society is impossible to function or survive.
Times of believing in personal freedom will always be times of believing in personal responsibility,but it is regret to say that this kind of belief in personal responsibility and the respect for freedom are now evidently on the wane.Responsibility has become an unpopular concept……The belief in responsibility often arouses the extreme hatred of certain people….Undoubtedly,the opportunity to strive for one’s life means a mission of endless hardships ( For an individual to achieve his goal,he must treat this opportunity as a self-imposed discipline),that is why so many people are dreadful of freedom.
