感觉中文有假设含义,故英译中部分采用了虚拟语气.

再答： 两个都必须要。 1.试做还原成陈述句表示It was very nice if you could/may(任选) care for me the way that I am always taking you to (my) heart! 这里，主句主语It是形式主语，真正的主语是从句if you could/may(任选) care for me the way that I am always taking you to (my) heart，如果按正常语序If you could/may(任选) care for me the way that I am always taking you to (my) heart was very nice.则主语太长且臃肿，故以It代之，将真正主语（从句）后置，使全句平衡，这也是形式主语的由来。 2.the way不可省略，像...一样、照...一样的方式，省了原文这层意思表达就差多了；而且，语感上，去了the way就丢了东西。至于语感这东西，无法再深入解释，这是个人感觉的问题。
