It was nearly seven in the evening. Joe walked into a bar, he bought a drink and began watching TV.
The seven o'clock news was on. There was a film showing a woman on the top of a tall building. On the ground, a policeman was trying to ask her not to jump.
"Let's talk about your problem." The policeman was shouting, "Maybe we can help you."
Joe turned to the man next to him, "I will give you $100 if she jumps."
"OK." The man smiled.
Joe turned back to the TV and watched it carefully. But the man didn't seem to be interested. He began reading the newspaper.
Several minutes later, the woman threw herself off the top of the building and fell to the ground.
"She jumped," Joe turned to the man in surprise, "You win." He took out the money and gave it to him, but the man didn't take it.
"I can't take your money," he said, "I knew I would win. That story was on the six o'clock news. I saw her jump."
"Well, yes, so did I, but I didn't think she'd do such a thing twice."
