一道让我很迷惑的题目The speech,-------to break the ice,received a cold

这就要看intend在本句中的用法了
1.此题相关intend的基本结构是：
sb/sth be intended for sth
sb/sth be intended to do sth
翻译为：“本打算用来...,本被打算做(职业)...”
如：The book is intended for children.
这本书本是写给儿童们的.
I was intended to be a techer.
我本打算做个老师.
2.结合到本句,也就是说the speech was intended to break the ice
3.此处用非谓语结构做后置定语,（解释说是插入语,错误）只要把be动词去掉就可以了.
