From my perspective,there are two critical factors accounting for such phenomenon.
To begin with,animals are hunted hugely for their meat and fur / feather.
Moreover,there are drastic changes in climate.Many animals will not be able to survive the changed condition.As a result,they will face the problem of extinction.
