When people have more money than they need for ordinary (平常的) things,they
sometimes spend their spare money in travelling and seeing other parts of the world.European(欧洲的) people go to the East and people from the East go to the West.Long before people
traveled for pleasure,ships went abroad to trade with one another.The men that sailed in those
old ships often used stars and planets (行星) to help them find their way.Each time they saw an island (岛),they brought out their maps to see whether the island was marked on them.If it was
not marked there,they knew that they had discovered a new island.If we compare the maps of
today with those used by the early sailors we'll notice many differences.
These days the quickest and the most convenient way to travel is by air.Some people who don't like cold weather fly to a warmer place when the cold season comes.Some people like to
travel by sea better because it gives them a chance to make new friends.The most natural way
to travel is by land.If we have enough time to compare one place with another,we will come to
a conclusion (结论) that every two places are rather different from each other.If we master
languages,we can have a better knowledge of the differences between the two countries.
