括号里为需要改动的或补充的,第一个walking是做man的伴随状语,主动的,用V-ing形式；作为跟stopped并列的动词,这里要用said；so…that…“如此…以致于…”；surprisingly副词,“意外地”；下面的应该是在他意识到之前男孩跑了,所以要用before；解释给某人听,要说explain to sb.；完成时中要用ring的过去分词即rung.如下：
Walked(walking) slowly along a srteet(应该是 street),Mr.Smith,a warm-hearted old man,saw a little boy trying to reach a doorbell that it was too high for him."Let me ring a bell for you," the old man stopped and says(said).He then pulled the bell quite(so) hard that it could be heard all over the house.Surprised(Surprisingly) and happily,the little boy had run away after(before) Mr.Smith could realize what was happening.Of course,the old man had to explain (to) the angry owner of the house why he had ring(rung) the bell.
