The paper introduces the principle of the four categories power chips,such as General Linear Regulator,Low-Dropout Linear Regulator,Switched-capacitor DC-DC Converter(i.e.Charge Pump),Inductor-switching DC-DC Converter,which are applicable to embeded system,and its characteristics were analyzed.also,presents some primciples for power chips selection,gives an example of power supply design in the end.
